The first in a family, the DA6001 power management IC (PMIC) optimizes the power efficiency of applications using the Intel Atom processor Z5xx series. The device provides all power supplies, power management, and clock supplies in a single chip. It requires less than half the board space and reduces the bill of materials compared to discrete power management parts. The device supports the Intel Atom processor for embedded computing, in-vehicle infotainment, netbooks, and mobile Internet devices.
The PMIC includes a clock synthesizer/driver, providing all the necessary clocks via three fractional divisions PLLs. Two analog signal inputs can be multiplexed to a 10-bit ADC and a charge pump to generate the 5-V reference domain even if the input voltage drops below 5 V. An autonomous state machine manages the system start-up and shutdown procedures as well as the state transitions of the Intel Atom processor during all operational modes.
