TDK Corp. announced the availability of a sample kit comprised of 10 different types of ultra-compact transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes, addressing information and communications technology (ICT), consumer and high-speed applications. Of the 10 included, five TVS diodes are in the general-purpose (GP) series, designed to protect against overvoltage for applications such as smartphones, tablets, notebooks, wearables and network communications devices. The remaining five are part of the high-speed ULC series, tuned for sensitive high-speed interfaces including USB-C, Thunderbolt, HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI, FireWire, DVI, S-ATA and SWP/NFC.
Given the wide range of clamping voltages from 3.8 V to 27 V, low leakage and fast response time, the TVS diodes protect diverse applications including portable and wearable devices with limited space and high-speed applications from electrostatic discharges (ESD). The diodes are reported to be extremely robust against ESD contact discharge voltages of up to 25 kV. They also offer very low capacitances starting at 0.18 pF, which ensure the signal integrity of demanding high-speed interfaces.
The sample kit, B74999T9999M099, is available now. The circuit protection diodes are available in ultra-compact chip-scale packages: The WL-CSP01005 (400 × 200 μm) and WL-CSP0201 (600 × 300 μm). They offer low-profile heights of 100 µm (01005) or 150 µm (0201).
