TDK Corp. has introduced a sample kit, featuring its CLT32 power inductors for power management ICs (PMICs) used in advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving (ADAS/AD) applications. The power inductor sample kit includes CLT32 parts with nine different inductance values ranging from 17 nH to 440 nH.
The SMT power inductors are housed in a compact 3.2 × 2.5 × 2.5-mm footprint. Key specs include saturation currents from 13.5 A to 60 A, an operating temperature range of -40°C to 165°C including self-heating and switching frequency support up to 10 MHz.
The CLT32 inductors are designed with a solid copper coil over-molded with a ferromagnetic plastic compound. TDK said the solid copper coil enables the inductors to achieve an exceptionally low RDC value, keeping losses to a minimum. The ohmic resistance is 0.39 mΩ at an inductance value of 17 nH.
High-performance processors in automotive ADAS/AD applications require currents in the double-digit ampere range, where PMICs are used as power supplies that provide these high currents, said TDK. In these applications, the CLT32 power inductors provide stabilization at the outputs, the company said, and meet future requirements for DC/DC converters with high clock rates.
The CLT32 power inductors are AEC-Q200 certified. The sample kit, part number B82403X1, can be ordered here.
