Tektronix, Inc. has claimed the industry’s first PCI Express 6.0 base transmitter test solution. It includes PCIe 6.0 measurement-specific software, enhanced PAM4 DSP capabilities, and noise compensation on the oscilloscope for increased accuracy of results.
The PCI-SIG working group recently released the PCI Express (PCIe) 6.0 Base specifications and validation requirements, aimed at data-intensive applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), and high-performance computing. The PCIe 6.0 standard adds new features including multi-level PAM4 signaling and error correcting techniques to support the higher data transfer rates of 64 GT/s.
The test solution includes analysis tools for measurements specifically designed for PCIe 6.0, including signal to noise distortion ratio (SNDR), uncorrelated jitter, and pulse width jitter measurements, as per the PCIe 6.0 standard. The enhanced PAM4 DSP capabilities come with Tektronix’s PAMJET transmitter analysis software application that runs on its performance scopes.
The analysis results are compiled in a PDF/HTML/CSV formatted report that can include pass/fail summary, eye diagrams, setup configuration, and user comments, said Tektronix. The reports also can be customized to include information of interest such as append results and custom report generation based on test name/pass fail/ equalization.
The new PCIe standard test solution is available with Tektronix’s DPO70000SX ATI performance oscilloscopes. These scopes offer a bandwidth range from 13 GHz up to 70 GHz. Click here for the PCIe transmitter compliance and debug solution data sheet.
