Temp/RH logger works with iPhone, iPad, iPod

Using its integrated temperature and relative humidity (RH) sensors, the HOBO MX1101 Temp/RH data logger records data in indoor environments and transmits it wirelessly with its Bluetooth transceiver to an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. The HOBOmobile app for iOS lets users configure the logger, read out data, and view it numerically or graphically on an iOS device, or export it for further analysis.

The battery-operated logger — it runs on two user-replaceable AA batteries — has ranges of −20°C to 70°C, with ±0.21°C accuracy from 0° to 50°C, and 1% to 90% RH, with typical accuracy of ±2% from 20% to 80% at 25°C. It can log at rates from 1 s to 18 hr, and battery life is typically 1 year with a 1-min logging interval. (Logging rates, the length of time wirelessly connected to HOBOmobile, and other operating modes can impact battery life.) The unit’s 128 kByte memory can store up to 84,650 measurements.

The compact logger (it measures 1.44 x 3.34 x 0.9 in. and weighs less than 2 oz.) can calculate min, max, average, and standard deviation statistics, and trip audible or visual alarms at user-specified thresholds. It supports burst logging (logging for an interval when sensor readings are above or below certain limits) and its built-in LCD displays the current temperature, relative humidity, logging status, battery use, memory consumption, and more. The instrument is available now from www.onsetcomp.com/mx/ for $135.
