Intended for monitoring the temperature of the DIMMs (dual in-line memory modules) used in personal computers, the STTS424 and STTS424E02 application specific digital temperature-sensor chips are fully compliant with the JEDEC JC42.4 specification. The STTS424 is a standalone digital temperature sensor, while the STTS424E02 integrates the temperature sensor with a 2-Kbit Serial Presence Detect (SPD) EEPROM.
Features include a supply current of 100 µA at 3.3 V, a supply voltage from 2.7 to 3.6 V, an accuracy of ± 1°, over 75° to 125°C, and an operating temperature from –40° to 125°C. Both devices communicate with the CPU chipset through an I2 C/SMBus-compatible serial bus, and are available in DFN8 and TSSOP8 packages. (From $0.70 ea/large qty—available now.)
