Test socket features Kelvin spring pins

The SSK-QFN-7000 Kelvin spring pin socket has a spring-pin contactor with an offset plunger, which allows two spring pins to contact one device lead or pad. The socket will test 4 x 3-mm, 0.5-mm pitch DFNs with 12 positions and a center ground pad.

The socket’s Kelvin spring pins have 28-g actuation force per ball and a 500,000-insertion-cycle life. Each contactor has a 2.8-A current capacity at 80°C temperature rise, self-inductance of 0.97-nH, an insertion loss of ≤1 dB at 11.2 GHz, and capacitance of 0.58 pF. Temperature range is –40° to 150°C. The socket also features a clamshell lid with a spring-loaded compression plate for vertical force without distorting device position.
