The 777 Series Fuse combines superior surge tolerance with safe opening in short-circuit conditions

Littelfuse recently introduced the 777 Series Fuse, which provides protection for higher-wattage wall-mount chargers for battery-powered equipment. Compared to chargers from earlier generations of mobile devices that had low wattage — typically about 5 W — today’s chargers must handle 10 to 15 W, which requires withstanding higher levels of current. The axially-leaded 3.6 x -9-mm 777 Series Fuse incorporates a type of filler material that combines the surge tolerance needed to prevent nuisance fuse tripping with the fuse's ability to open safely when a short circuit occurs.

With its robust design, the fuse can withstand up to 24 hits of 7.5-kV ringwave surge. It will open safely on a direct short condition without producing any soot, sparks, or sounds. Typical applications include wall-mount smartphone and tablet chargers and 10 to 20-W power supply modules for other battery-powered consumer electronics.

Available in quantities of 1,000 in tape-and-reel packaging, sample requests of the 777 Series Fuse can be placed through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide. For a complete listing of Littelfuse distributors, visit littelfuse.com.
