Some days, like the time my computer decided it hated me and fried its hard drive in an effort to escape in the middle of my 20-page seminar paper, technology irks me. Other days, I find something that makes me admit it’s pretty cool: like little tiny bots designed to deliver salt and pepper, so now you can literally play with your food once it’s seasoned to perfection. And the best part is, you don’t even have to lift a finger.
If you don’t think these are adorable you are a filthy liar; don’t speak to me
In today’s world of hybrid-electric cars, 3D printers, and Amazon delivery drones, these teeny Salt & Pepper Bots fill a much-needed hole in our lives: reaching across the table for the salt just takes so much effort nowadays. You have to put your phone down and everything — I mean really it was getting pretty ridiculous; we’re not cavemen.
Designed by Mark Owens, users can wind these little guys up and watch them become mini robot butlers: they’ll walk across the table to help season your meal, effectively helping you eliminate everyday annoyances like…moving. The duo’s shakers are made from resilient food-grade plastic, and do contain several small parts that might make them unsafe for children to use unsupervised. Also they only cost 20 bucks.
They’re kind of the perfect Christmas gift, until somebody finally invents a toaster with wheels for toast delivery or a coffee maker that never runs out of coffee.
Now all you have to do is think of names for the adorable duo! (You can’t just shout “Salt!” Rude).
You can purchase the adorable little couple here, as well as shop for some other gifts.
