The 2216 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker is offered in a platform for automation architectures. It is based on technology that offers interchangeability of circuit breaker technology or current ratings without the need to touch any wiring or the associated power distribution busbar system. The system is available in one and two pole configurations, three characteristic curve types, and is rated to 277 Vac/ 80 Vdc with a current range from 0.5 to 16 A.
The thermal-magnetic circuit breaker interchangeability is accomplished via a circuit breaker and socket concept. The circuit breaker has a 12.5-mm pluggable device that is inserted into a terminal block base. The terminal blocks are available in traditional screw terminal configuration (81plus) and a push-in spring-loaded version (80plus). The two-piece design makes it possible for the terminal blocks to be designed in on the front end of the project while allowing the circuit breakers to be installed later in the design when all of the field loads are defined.
