Forget Google Glass, here are some high-tech (but still ordinary) sunglasses that you’ll want if you often lose your sunglasses like many tend to do.
A company called Tzukuri has created a pair of Bluetooth sunglasses embedded with a tiny iBeacon sensor that connects to your iPhone. So, when you leave a pair of sunglasses more than 16 feet behind, the iPhone app will alert you to where you left them. (Don’t worry, the app won’t go off in your home or office.)
The app works in two ways. For example, if you misplace your Tzukuris at home, you can track the distance to the nearest foot. On the other hand, in wide-open spaces, the app will save the last location you had your glasses and show you on a map.
Here’s a bonus, the app even works the other way around. So, if you leave your phone behind, it will begin sounding off as well.
The sunglasses run on solar power and since they use Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with the phone so very little power is used. The integrated solar cell can keep your pair charged for long periods of time.
The company is offering six designs of the Tzukuris in three different sizes to bring out different facial structures.
Pre-orders will launch soon and shipping will being at the end of the year. If you’d like to sign up for your $350 high-tech pair as soon as they launch, visit the Tzukuri website for updates.
