The SFH 4787S infrared LED provides even illumination for iris scanners to detect and identify unique patterns in the eye. Its flat intensity distribution optimizes the reflector and lens to create a constant intensity across the emitted beam, simplifying identification of distinctive iris patterns with little need to correct for artifacts, thus increasing accuracy in analysis and detection.
It features a slightly angled direction of emission, tilted by 8° and ±18° emission angles. It offers an optical output of 720 mW at a current of 1 A and a radiant intensity of 1,000 milliwatts per steradian (mW/sr). Its compact 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.6-mm Oslux package targets safeguarding mobile and other small devices.
