This USB device adds a touchscreen to your PC or laptop

AirBar brings touch control to your existing devices

Feeling behind with the times because your laptop or PC doesn’t have a touchscreen display? Though useful, it’s usually not worth replacing a whole computer just to get a modern device with all the bells and whistles.

But that’s where AirBar comes in handy. This slim module magnetically attaches below the screen of an existing PC or laptop running Windows or Chrome, instantly providing the device with touch functionality.

Created by Neonode, the USB peripheral blankets your display with an invisible light field, which the company refers to as “zForce AIR technology.” Impressively, AirBar doesn’t require any special software to work its magic. As long as it’s plugged into a Windows 7, 8, or 10 machine, or a Chromebook, it’ll be set to go. As of right now, it only works with Apple computers to a limited extent.

According to the company, it doesn’t matter what you touch the screen with. The technology works with your fingers, any kind of stylus, and even thick work gloves. Anything that can break up the light field will do the trick, and this includes paint brushes, chopsticks, and any other tool you can get creative with.

Scheduled to be released sometime in the first half of 2016, AirBar can currently be pre-ordered for $49. To see it in action, check out the video below.
