Through-hole VCAs suit compact designs

Designed for use in military, medical, industrial, and scientific applications, a family of through-hole voice-coil actuators (VCAs) with aperture sizes of 15, 20, and 24.9 mm can simplify assemblies and save space. By allowing assembly such as lasers, lights, wires, lenses, or tubes filled with gas or fluid to pass directly through the middle of the actuator, the linear, unhoused VCAs can reduce a product design’s weight, part count, and size. 

Available in three standard models — LA15-16-002A (15-mm aperture), LA18-12-001A (20 mm), and LA28-22-001A (24.9 mm) — the ruggedized actuators have outside diameters between 38.1 and 69.8 mm and lengths at mid-stroke from 28.4 to 55.9 mm, and can deliver continuous forces from 8.1 to 45.7 N,  with peak forces of 9.7 to 201 N, depending on model. Typical pricing is from $600 ea / 100-250 with lead time of 10 to 12 weeks. Units can also be customized to match specific OEM design requirements.
