The TIDA-00355 board is a 230V, 400W high efficiency battery charger with PFC and LLC for 36-V power tools.
It is designed to charge a wide range of batteries (Li-ion, Ni-Cd, lead-acid, and Li-poly) between 20V and 42V. Specifically, TIDA-00355 is ideal for 10-Cell Li-ion battery packs, which are commonly used in cordless power and garden Tools.
The TIDA-00355 design has a boost PFC pre-regulator stage, which operates at an efficiency level of 96%. It provides high Power Factor (PF) of >0.99 and meets PFC regulation as per IEC61000-3-2 class A. The main converter stage, operating at an efficiency of 96% at full load, is realised using a half-bridge LLC resonant converter configuration. The charger is designed for an input voltage range of 175V-265V AC.
TIDA-00355's design form factor (230mm by 80mm) is compact for the power level of 400W. It has an overall operating system efficiency of 92% at full load, and is able to deliver 9A of continuous charging current when it comes to fast battery charging. Voltage and current regulation are within +/- 3%. The EMI filter at the front end of the circuit is designed to meet EN55011 class A conducted emission levels. No external cooling is required.
