Tiny 16-bit 1-GSPS dual-channel DACs with LVDS inputs are industry’s first
Wideband converters in 9 x 9-mm packages maximize carrier placement flexibility
Offered in 9 x 9-mm QFN packages, the 16-bit 1-Gsample/s DAC568x D/A converter family — consisting of the single-channel DAC5681/81Z and dual-channel DAC5682Z — is claimed to be the first to feature an LVDS data input port at 1 Gbit/s — a 70% space savings over traditional data converters. Providing up to 400-MHz signal bandwidth, the parts offer several configuration options to support different transmitting architectures, such as direct up-conversion, real or complex IF, and different wireless air interfaces such as WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX, and LTE.
For an output frequency of 160 MHz, the devices achieve 73-dB ACPR for a single-carrier WCDMA application or 67 dBc for a four-carrier application. The dual DAC5682Z offers many digitally configurable features such as selectable low-pass, high-pass, or bypass filter modes, interpolation: 2x, 4x, or bypass, optional ±Fs/4 or ±Fs/8 coarse mixer, optional 2x to 32x clock-multiplying PLL, and eight-sample input data FIFO.
