Tiny capacitor targets high-density applications

Murata offers an MLCC in a 008004 package size with a capacitance of 0.1µF for compact electronic devices, such as 5G smartphones and wearables

Murata Electronics has claimed that the GRM011R60J104M  multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) is the industry’s first that features a maximum capacitance of 0.1 µF in a 008004 (0.25 × 0.125 mm) package. Available now, the MLCC is suited for compact electronic devices, such as 5G smartphones and wearables, that call for smaller and higher-density circuitry.

Murata-GRM011R60J104M-MLCC

The GRM011R60J104M is built on Murata’s proprietary ceramic and electrode material atomization and homogenization technology, enabling the size reduction — about half the size and volume that is about 80% smaller than capacitors in a 01005 package. It also offers nearly 10× the capacity of similarly sized products, according to Murata.

Other key features include a capacitance tolerance of ±20% and rated voltage of 6.3 VDC. The operating temperature range is −55°C to 85°C.
