Tiny green laser diodes deliver up to 50 mW

With optical outputs of 50 and 30 mW, respectively, and high beam quality, the PL 520 and PL 515 compact direct-emitting green laser diodes are well suited to miniature projectors for smartphones and cameras, as well as projection units for laser shows, point lasers, and line lasers. Both diodes have a package diameter of only 3.8 mm, which allows new projectors to be smaller than previous ones.

The PL 520 provides wavelengths of 515 to 530 nm at 50 mW while the PL 515 offers an output of 30 mW in a 510 to 530-nm range. With efficiencies of 5 to 6%, both devices emit at small divergence angles, which is said to result in very narrow beams that spread only slightly.
