Tiny PIN/photo devices sense over broad range

The miniature TEMD7x00X01 PIN photodiodes and TEMT7x00X01 photo­transistors suit automotive applications as ambient, tunnel, and rain sensors, as well as industrial light curtains, barriers, and encoding wheel apps. The diodes combine a 100-ns response time with spectral sensitivity of 350 to 1,120 nm or 750 to 1,050 nm, while the phototransistors have a 450-µA light current and spectral sensitivity from 470 to 1090 nm, or 750 to 1010 nm with a visible-light-filtering epoxy.

The AEC-Q101-qualified devices come in an 0805 surface-mount package with 1.25 by 2.0-mm footprint and 0.85-mm profile, and feature a 1-nA dark current, ±60° angle of half sensitivity, and a temperature range of −40 to 100C. (From $0.19 ea / 5,000 available 6 to 8 weeks ARO.)
