Do you hate losing your wallet, keys, sunglasses, bike, or car? TrackerPad GPS stickers may finally be your solution. These quarter-sized (0.39 x 0.39 x 0.15 in) adhesives have a built-in prepaid SIM that works with the TrackerPad server. In turn, the server relays information to the TrackerPad app on the user’s smartphone.
This isn’t the first GPS tracker to be invented, but it is the tiniest. It can be added to small things like keys and wallets without adding bulk. It weighs just 1.6g, so small you won’t notice it’s there. And unlike Bluetooth item trackers, which have a limited finding range, this product is equipped with a full-fledged global positioning system, allowing you to find it anywhere it goes.
So how does it work? The stickers are formatted with the app by scanning the QR code located on the front. Once the two are paired, you can then name your item for convenient and easy access. For example, you might label your keys “keys” or whatever suits your comfort.
To use the app, you then select the name of your object and view its location on the map. Location reports can be set up at the user’s time preferences and geo-fencing is available to be set up to notify the user if the object leaves a defined area.
The devices are waterproof and have a battery life of seven days depending how often their location is looked up. The pads can be charged through a rechargeable lithium ion cell by placing it on top of the wireless charger, which will alert a notification once charging has begun. You don’t have to fiddle with wires and plugs; it’s all wireless, which adds another perk to it.
TrackerPads can be reused simply by running under cold water and sticking to the new desired object. If one loses its stickiness, simply run it under water as well to reactivate it again.
Funding for this project is available through Kickstarter, with hopes to raise $155k and hit the market by December 2015. A pledge of $46 will grant you two TrackerPads, a wireless charging dock, and codes to download the accompanying smartphone app.
