The clothing company teamed up with solar manufacturer Pvilion to incorporate solar panels into its limited edition jacket line for the 2014 holiday season.

The outerwear features removable solar panels that provide enough energy to power electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
The solar panels snap on and off the back of the jackets while a discreet cable runs through the lining into a removable battery pack in the front pocket. The garment comes equipped with a snap-flap so you can easily access the battery pack and its double USB port to charge up to two devices at once.

To manually charge the battery pack, just hook it up to your laptop or external power outlet, and when you’re not using, it energy will be saved for later use.
The solar panels are made with Pvilion silicon technology and according to the company, when they’re exposed to sunlight they can fully charge the battery pack, which can fully charge a standard 1,500-mAh mobile device four times.
Tommy Hilfiger has even decided to donate 50% of all net proceeds to the Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit organization that allows children living in low-income communities to get away from hot, noisy city streets and enjoy free summer experiences in the country.
These jackets are available in select Tommy Hilfiger stores across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia, and online at Tommy.com for the holidays.
