Said to provide a significantly improved way of designing FPGAs, the Precision RTL Plus development tool provides multivendor support for 19 FPGA device families and enables designers to reach their timing goals faster, with less iteration and increased productivity. It is a pushbutton timing-driven methodology that provides an optimized netlist to the FPGA vendors’ place-and-route (P&R) tools.
The tool performs pre-P&R physical synthesis optimizations based on advanced delay estimation, and considers many factors including available routing resources and design rules specific to each device. Testing has shown a performance improvement ranging from 5% to 40%, with an average of 10%.
Precision RTL Plus offers an industry-first capability of automating incremental synthesis without reducing the quality of results, enabling up to 60% runtime improvement and allowing the designer to recompile and synthesize only the partition affected by a design change.
