Tool speeds FPGA designs
The XACT-Performance software tool lets engineers set system performance
requirements on designs using the company's 4000-series FPGAs. The product
allows designers to specify their required performance in the schematic,
then automatically partitions, places, and routes the design to achieve
the specified performance. To specify XACT-Performance, users enter
register-transfer requirements, I/O transfer requirements, and
combinatorial logic requirements in their schematic. The tool will flag
early on any performance requirements that cannot be met. The software
runs on PCs, as well as on Sun, HP700, and HP/Apollo workstations. (From
