Top 5 reasons to choose the QuantumX as DAQ System

HBM - QuantumX - DAQ system

QuantumX is the right tool for your test and measurement jobs. Data acquisition (DAQ) plays a critical role in areas including research and analysis, design validation and verification, manufacturing and quality testing. Most benefits offered by the QuantumX are visible in demanding test and measurement jobs. DAQ tools can measure a design’s safety and operational attributes on the proving grounds, while their feedback helps engineers build better designs. However, there are seemingly countless types of DAQ system available, making it tough to select the most suitable tool for your application. Here are five reasons why you should choose the QuantumX by HBM.

1. Universal Inputs

The capability to acquire signals from any sensor or transducer with the MX840 is unique in the measurement world. In fact, you can connect up to 16 different types on any channel. No more worrying about whether your sensors will interact with your new system. TEDS, the electronic data sheet in the sensor, together with universal inputs makes it a plug and measure solution. Connect and start acquiring data quickly and easily, saving you time and stress.

2. Accuracy

Whether you measure with the QuantumX or another measurement tool, you need accurate and reliable readings in real world conditions where temperature, electromagnetic noise and interference to the measurement chain may be affected. QuantumX delivers clean data with the technology for galvanically isolated channels, simultaneous sampling rates with 24-bit precision, strain gauge bridge circuits compensating cable length and temperature effects, carrier frequency excitation compensating electromagnetic noise, auto calibration routines compensating ambient temperature influences and configurable data rate from 0.1 to 100,000 S/s per channel and digital low pass filter. A calibration protocol is stored on the device as proof of evidence.

3. Flexibility

QuantumX is a modular and distributable DAQ solution that is well suited for a variety of applications in engineering, production, service and maintenance in machinery, automotive, aerospace, marine, railway, off-highway and civil engineering industries. QuantumX is flexible for all applications from small portable solutions to big distributed instrument clusters. Many users work with just one module – four universal inputs linked to a PC or Notebook for service and maintenance jobs while other users set up a largely distributed network with several hundred channels linked together via glass fiber, fully isolated, or by WLAN. This allows you to scale your DAQ solution according to your needs.

4. Simple and intuitive Software

QuantumX modules can be used in many different applications. HBM’s test and measurement software catman® lets your application live on your screen. The software comes with a clear workflow offering all necessary components from channel configuration, data processing, visualization and user interface, event monitoring, data storage, automation, data analysis and reporting. HBM´s catman software is an excellent match for your test and measurement needs, whether in R&D, production, service, maintenance or monitoring – analyze your data in time, frequency or any other domain. The software is application-oriented and offers all necessary inputs and analysis functions specifically for durability testing in field or lab, electro mechanical actuator testing or monitoring tasks.

5. Open to be integrated

Different bus technologies bring different advantages. The distributable modules can be connected to each other by a single wire. It is used for power supply, time sync, data transfer for data recording and analysis as well as real-time communication for measurement and control tasks. Every QuantumX module offers an Ethernet port and can be time synced via PTPv2. Time source can also be IRIG-B or NTP which in turn allows widely distributed networks linked together over WLAN or opto-fiber.

These are just five reasons of many to show why the QuantumX is the ideal choice for a DAQ system.

QuantumX can be integrated in real-time using EtherCAT field bus, analog voltage output or CAN bus. QuantumX is fully supported by LabVIEW*, Visual Studio .NET and many more  Microsoft Windows software packages. The units can also be integrated into any operating system, therefore, developers of lab test stands or monitoring solutions can take advantage of the full-featured and documented standardized interfaces.
