Touch controllers enable thinner, lighter screens

The maxTouch S is the newest generation on maxTouch touchscreen controllers, consisting of the mXT224S, mXT336S, and mXT1664S. The mXT224S is a 224-node controller used for the Android and Windows Phone 8 smartphones from 3.5 to 4.3 in, the mXT336S, a 336-node controller for the next generation of superphones from 4.3 to 5.5 in, and the mXT1664S, a 1,664-node, 32-bit solution for tablets of 10 in and above, with support for Windows and Active Stylus.

The parts feature SlimSensor technology which enable end products to be thinner and lighter. The technology combats display noise up to 3.5 V from any type of display, including ACVCOM LCDs and noisier high pixel density displays.

The series also features maxCharger technology which enables flawless touch performance with battery chargers that output up to 240 V of common-mode noise. The controllers also support the 1-mm maXStylus active stylus with multisense functionality and the lower cost passive stylus with 2-mm tip (supported at over 120 Hz report rate). Both these stylus have intelligent palm rejection. Compared to its previous generation, the controllers also offer improved touch-processing algorithms.
