Designed for capacitive touch applications, the LDS6010/LDS6040 touch controllers integrate a haptics driver for use with mobile phone touch-input controls including sliders, scroll wheels, and buttons. The haptics driver supports both ERM (eccentric rotating mass) and LRA (linear resonant actuator) vibration motors. A smart watchdog timer monitors the PWM input and sets the haptics driver to shutdown mode to save power if no PWM activity is detected.
Featuring 15 sensor inputs, the parts provide update rates of 2 ms per sensor input with on-chip automatic calibration logic continuously monitoring the environment to adjust ambient baseline levels to increase touch accuracy. Additional features include a 1.8-V supply voltage and a power consumption of less than 200 μW in full-power mode. The LDS6040 also supports true current control (0.25-mA increments) with up to 32 dimming steps. (From $0.80 to 1.50 ea/100,000 — available now.)
