Transceivers handle 100 Gbit/s Ethernet bidirectional data
The BCM84790 and BCM84793 100 Gbit Ethernet gearbox PHYs offer the first multi-rate interface for 4-lane (4 x 25 Gbit/s) and 10-lane (10 x 10 Gbit/s) bi-directional transmissions. The chips take only 2.5 W/port, and feature less than 200 fs rms random jitter on the 25 Gb/s transmit outputs.
The BCM84790 uses a space-saving 17 x 1 7 mm BGA package and supports CFP network applications. The BCM84793 comes in a 19 x 19 mm BGA package with the flexibility to support for future-generation networking formats such as CFP2 and CXP. (No price given samples available now.)
