The MB86H52 transcoder compresses full high-definition (1,920 x 1,080) MPEG-2 video data to H.264 format that is less than half its original size, enabling transmission of full HD video over narrow bandwidths. The IC targets hard disk recorders, video recorders, and set-top boxes.
The chip operates at an internal frequency of 216 MHz, uses proprietary video compression algorithms, and incorporates a 324-MHz DDR2 memory interface.
