Transcoders feature memory, low power

The MB86M01, MB86M02, and MB86M03 second-generation bidirectional H.264/MPEG-2 transcoders combine power consumption of just 1.2 W, 1 Gbit of FCRAM memory, and high image quality. The ICs provide video/audio transcoding and transrating along with USB2.0/PCI Express, and AES and MULTI2 security functions necessary to protect digital broadcast content.

The devices also reduce the delay time required during transcoding, which speeds distribution over a network. The MB86M01/03 come in a FBGA-490/FBGA-289, 13 mm square package. The MB86M02 comes in a 21-mm-square FBGA-490 package better suited for home-electronics equipment. (Price not given samples available now.)
