The MAX13256 is an H-bridge transformer driver with a wide input-voltage range for isolated power supplies. It helps designers provide up to 90% efficiency for isolated dc/dc converters. The device drives the primary coil of transformer with up to 300-mA of current from an 8 to 36 Vdc supply that can deliver up to 10W of isolated power.
The transformer driver allows users to choose the transformer winding ratio, which defines the output voltage. The driver eliminate 16 discrete components and is available in a TDFN package. It helps create isolated power supplies in smart grid metering applications, and industrial and medical equipment.
It features adjustable current limiting, overcurrent limit, and integrated thermal and short-circuit protection. ($2.85 ea/1,000 – available now.)
