Transtector Systems rolls out family of AC surge protection devices

Targeting industrial applications, the DIN rail SPDs operate in UL Type 1 and Type 2 environments

By Warren Miller, contributing writer

Transtector Systems recently announced a new line of DIN-rail AC surge protection devices (SPDs) designed for implementation in everything from communications and security applications to automated manufacturing environments. The I2R series is optimized for environments with UL Type 1 and Type 2 requirements.

The I2R series can be configured for single, split-phase, delta, and three-phase WYE electrical service applications up to 690 Vac. All configurations meet UL 1449 4th Edition safety standard.

Each device in the I2R series offers 75-kA surge capacity, providing protection from high-energy transients and long-term exposure to harsh electrical environments. The I2R devices also provide high short-circuit ratings with thermally protected metal-oxide varistors (MOVs), making any external overcurrent devices or backup fusing unnecessary.

Other features include a reverse chassis facility that allows cables to be installed from the top or bottom of the device, as well as an IP 20 finger-safe design and remote visual status indications. Each device is a compact, DIN-rail-mounted SPD that makes installation, repair, or replacement simple.

All configurations are available from Transtector Systems and its distribution network.
