TranSwitch Announces Optimized Ethernet Gigabit PHY IP Core

TranSwitch® Corporation has announced the availability of its optimized Ethernet Gigabit PHY IP (intellectual property) core – MystiPHY1011. TranSwitch’s IP core supports 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T. These three technologies are the de-facto standard for all Ethernet traffic over the installed base of twisted-pair cables.

Licensing MystiPHY1011 IP core enables customers to integrate complex 1000Base-T PHY design in SOC applications

“This technology is based on a complex design that requires tremendous effort and significant knowledge of DSP (digital signal processing) and mixed-signal design,” said Amir Bar-Niv, executive director for Systems and Applications at TranSwitch Corporation. “By licensing this IP core, customers can focus on their own core designs that require 1000Base-T PHY, resulting in a faster time-to-market with the integrated chip.”

The optimized Ethernet Gigabit PHY IP core is a standard PHY that is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3 specifications. The PHY’s small size, low power, multiple MAC interfaces and other unique features make it attractive for many applications such as Gigabit switches, network interface cards, LOM (LAN on Motherboard), home gateway, printers, and testing equipment.
