True replacements for 50-W MR16 halogens, LED bulbs consume 84% less energy
Said to be the most efficient bulbs of their kind, Definity MR16 Hi-Output LED bulbs consume 8 W, 84% less than traditional MR16 50-W halogen bulbs, while delivering the equivalent light output. Furthermore, the halogen-substitute bulbs have an operating temperature range of −20 to 40C and do not need a fan to optimize thermal dissipation.
The bulbs are available in four correlated color temperature (CCT) versions 2,700K, 3,000K, 4,000K, and 5,000K with respective outputs and efficacies of 500. 525, 535, and 550 lm, and 63, 66, 67, and 69 lm/W. The bulbs have a color rendering index (CRI) Ra of 83, except for the cool white (5,000K) version, whose Ra is 67. All bulbs have a 25° beam angle, and their center beam candle power (CBCP) ranges from 2,230 to 2,436 cd.
The units have an L70-rated life of 25,000 hours, come with a three-year warranty, and are compatible with a wide array of ac and dc magnetic or electronic transformers. They are available from a number of distributors; see www.lsgc.com/map/wheretobuy.php. (From about $26 in qty available now.)
