Two chips aid PCIe connectivity

The PI7C9X442SL Swidge PCI/USB expander IC is an industry-first device that takes a PCIe 1.0 input and outputs a four-port USB 2.0 host and two PCIe 1.0 ports. The 14 x 14-mm 128TQFP-packaged IC has been certified by the PCISIG, offers advanced power management technology, and is fully programmable via an I2 C bus.

The PI3EQX5701 single-lane ReDriver IC for PCIe 2.0 extends distances and restores signal integrity across PCB traces and external cables. The part uses a single supply, has a power-down mode and programmable equalization, and comes in a very small 4 x 4-mm 20-TQFN package.
