Designed to provide high thrust in a linear mode, the 46000 Series of 1.
8-in. subfractional-horsepower stepper motors incorporate a threaded rotor
in conjunction with a lead-screw shaft. The motor shaft moves in linear
increments of 0.001, 0.002, 0.004, or 0.008 in., depending on motor
selection. The actuator shaft provides a minimum of 0.950 in. travel with
a captive screw, and 2.50 in. minimum travel with a noncaptive screw.
Running of a 5- or 12-Vdc supply, the motors have a power consumption of
10 W and a temperature rise of 75 degreesC. The devices weigh 255 g,
measure 1.175 in. deep, and have a mounting dimension of 2.187 in. between
holes. The rotor inertia is 25.0 g-cm2 . Rotary versions are
also available. (Captive, $150; noncaptive, $165; rotary, $90–2 to 3
weeks ARO.) Haydon Switch & Instrument, Inc. Waterbury, CT Al Palmero
