Last week, MegaBots — a U.S.-based company that specializes in the building of gigantic robots — posted a video challenging robot maker Suidobashi Heavy Industry and their enormous bot Kuratas to a mecha battle.
Upon review, the Japanese bot maker has decided to accept the challenge, and the two companies are now working out the details on where and when to host the fight.

The video response from Suidobashi featured the firm’s chief Kogoro Kurata, saying, “Yeah. I will fight. Absolutely,” he declared on the YouTube video with English subtitles. “But you know, we really need a melee combat. If we are going to win this, I want to punch them to scrap and knock them down to do it.”
Kurata, who was draped in a Japanese flag inscribed with the words “hydraulic pressure” admitted his country’s robot culture was at stake with this challenge.

His response followed a video posted by executives from MegaBots who, it should be pointed out, were wearing sunglasses and wearing American flags.
“Suidobashi, you have a giant robot. We have a giant robot. You know what needs to happen. We challenge you to a duel,” the execs said, referring to their company’s paintball gun-equipped gigantic robot.
They added: “Both of our robots need modification to become combat ready. Prepare yourselves and name the battlefield. In one year, we fight.”
While the battle is still a year away, Kurata wasted no time in taking the first shot at MegaBot’s proclamation that their big battle bot will be outfitted with “Really. Big. Guns.”
“Come on guys, make it cooler. Just building something huge and sticking guns on it. It's super American,” Kurata said.
