XP Power’s UCH600 series of convection-cooled, 600-W AC/DC power supplies delivers full-load power under a range of conditions without the need for additional cooling. The ultra-compact power supply measures 8.0 × 5.0 × 1.57 in., delivering a power density of 9.5 W/in.3 and easy installation thanks to its U-channel construction and low profile.
The power supplies can be used in applications in which no forced air is available or in which fan noise or the ingress of dirt is undesirable. Applications include medical devices, as well as those requiring body-floating (BF) patient protection that need to operate silently. They can also be used in ITE or industrial electronics applications in environments where dirt ingress would be worsened by forced air cooling or where audible noise and fan reliability issues make forced air cooling impractical.
The power supplies meet EN55011/32 Class B for both conducted and radiated emissions with significant margin, said XP Power, which makes them a low risk for integration and system approvals for end-use equipment. They also meet Class C harmonics, making them suitable for lighting and display applications.
The power supplies offer high efficiency up to 95%, which ensures that the devices can deliver their full rated power of 600 W at ambient temperatures up to 50°C, even at low line input. At 70°C, a full 300 W of power is available, which doesn’t require any forced air cooling, said XP Power. A 12-V/0.6-A auxiliary fan supply is available for equipment designs that use some forced air cooling.
The UCH600 series carries worldwide safety approvals for ITE/industrial and health-care applications, including IEC60950-1, IEC/EN/UL62368-1, and IEC/EN60601-1 3rd Edition.
The UCH600 series is priced at $189.00 for 500-piece orders and is available from Allied Electronics, Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, or direct from XP Power with a three-year warranty.
