Ultraminiature IP68-rated tactile switch is industry’s only

The KMT0 Series ultraminiature tactile switch is claimed to be the industry’s only such switch with an IP68-rated sealing. The switch is completely sealed and stays fully functional under water for a minimum of 5 hours at a depth of 2 m. It also fully resists the most stringent conformal polymer coatings, including one of the smallest particle chemical vapors, parylene, which is used for coating printed circuit boards (PCBs) and medical devices.

Features include a lifespan of more than 300,000 electrical and mechanical cycles, a maximum power rating of 0.5 VA, a temperature range from –40° to 85°C, and a minimum/maximum voltage from 20 mV to 32 Vdc with a minimum/maximum current rating of 1 to 50 mA. Actuator height is only 0.2 mm, and the integrated actuator allows for simpler button design while yielding a tactile ratio minimum 30% (low tactile ratio of 10% is available for hearing aids and headsets).

The SPST normally open switches are constructed with silver plating and are available with four operating forces: 1.0, 1.6, 2.3, and 3.4 N. Maximum overload is 30 N. These RoHS-compliant and halogen-free parts feature a footprint of only 3.0 x 2.6 mm with a height of 0.63 or 0.65 mm. (Contact company for pricing — available now.)
