Undertab termination increases cap efficiency
The low-profile PulseCap tantalum capacitors feature an “undertab” termination style, which does not protrude outside of the outline of the case, saving space and increasing volumetric efficiency. Available in case sizes “6” (14.5 x 7.5 x 2.0 mm) and “4” (7.3 x 6.1 x 2.0 mm), the capacitors and are rated from 1,000 to 3,300 µF (3.3 mF) with voltage ratings of 4 to 10 V.
The RoHS-compatible devices have a 2-mm max case height and suit applications that require bulk capacitance to boost transmitter power, such as solid-state disks, PCMCIA/USB wireless express cards and GPS transmitters. The capacitors can withstand a soldering profile of three times reflow at 260°C, with operating temperatures of –55° to 125°C. (From $1.80 each — 14 to 20 weeks ARO.)
