USB 3.0 controller cuts static power use

The µPD720200A SuperSpeed USB 3.0 host controller supports 5 Gbits/s data transfer achieves a low 50 mW power consumption with no peripheral connection to the ports – 1/5 the static power of the earlier version (formerly an NEC part). The chip uses PCIe Gen2 x 1 lane and provides one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port.

The chip supports all USB data rates and has a maximum power of less than 1 W. The FPBGA176 packaged device uses 1.05 and 3.3 V, with a 24 MHz Xtal or 48 MHz clock input, and operates from 0 to 85°C. ($3 ea./production qty. samples now, production October.)
