Use stickers and a mobile phone to find your missing keys, luggage or pets

Lost your keys, cat, or remote control? No problem. Next time, just put some stickers on them and track them with your smartphone.

A new Florida-based company, StickNFind Technologies, has created ultra-small Bluetooth location stickers so that you never have to lose your items again. The device is just the size of a quarter, so you can stick it on just about anything.

How it works

Place the stickers on any item you seem to lose a lot and download the app onto your smartphone. Once downloaded, the app transforms your phone into a radar screen. If your item is missing, click the sticker button on your screen and choose whether you want the item’s sticker to buzz, flash lights, or both.

The phone’s radar will not be able to give you an exact location, but you will be able to approximate the distance of StickNFind to your phone.
The stickers possess an updated working range of about 150 ft and include a standard watch battery that lasts for a year. Engineers were able to achieve this 150-ft range by incorporating a custom designed antenna and a non-absorbent plastic casing that enables expanded reach.

“Our goal was the ability to pinpoint the sticker in a large house, without the necessity of the buzzer feature. Our radar resolution now is so high, the App will guide any user within inches from the sticker,” said Jimmy Buchheim, CEO of Stick-N-Find Technologies.

Although it seems like companies have been creating tracking devices for years, StickNFind Technologies uses Bluetooth Low Energy, a new advancement that reduces battery power necessary to send out signals.
To use, just make sure you have an iOS device with Bluetooth 4.0 or an Android device that supports Bluetooth low energy technology.

Cool features

If you have pets, StickNFind offers a virtual leash option. Just place the Bluetooth location sticker on your pet’s collar. If the sticker moves farther than a selected distance from your phone, your phone will notify you.

Travelers, you no longer have to stand around a crowd of people at the airport waiting for your suitcase to appear on the belt. StickNFind suggests placing stickers on your suitcase and having a seat at the airport. When your suitcase comes within range, your phone will alert you and you can retrieve it without fighting the crowds.

The future

Buchheim is looking into a future retail launch projection for StickNFind in April 2013. In addition, he is also optimistic about future applications for the stickers in the medical industry, government agencies, and libraries.
On the company’s website, you can purchase two stickers for $50.00. Shipping begins next week.

All of your search problems are solved. Just don’t lose your phone or you won’t be able to track any of your items.
