Whether it’s pulling into work, the grocery store, or an overcrowded mall, hunting for a parking space can be one of the most agonizing things that you do all day. If your luck is particularly rotten, you could spend half your morning circling the parking lot, hunched over the steering wheel like an eagle searching for prey and cursing the truck that got there half a second before you did.
Thanks to the new app Parqt, you might never have to face this problem again. Developed for iOS devices, Parqt uses Bluetooth connectivity to update and share the user’s parking information, allowing users to track empty parking spaces. The app doubles in function as a tracker, so users will always be able to figure out where they parked in a crowded lot. Every time a user’s mobile device connects to the car’s Bluetooth, Parqt will update parking information automatically.

Parqt allows users to set how long they will be in a particular parking spot, in order to alert other users when that particular spot will be vacated. As the Parqt network grows, the app will even be able to show in real time when a parking space has opened up in a very crowded area.
Users can also use the Parqt app to earn reward points, which can be used to gain gift cards or donate to charities of the user’s choice—each time a user’s engine is turned off or on, they earn points.
In a company release, co-founder Cagla Erikoglu stated that the app could have a profound impact on the world’s carbon footprint, as it could significantly reduce the time people spend combing lots for parking spaces.
The app is free and available for download on iOS and Google Play.
