Vector network analyzer tests from 70 kHz to 110 GHz with one connection

Vector network analyzer tests from 70 kHz to 110 GHz with one connection

Working over 70 kHz to 110 GHz — the broadest frequency range available with a single coax connection — the ME7828A VectorStar broadband vector network analyzer system is said to have the industry’s best dynamic range and measurement speed, as well as calibration and measurement stability. The analyzer is particularly useful for emerging 60-GHz wireless personal area networks, 40-Gbit/s-and-up optical networks, 77-GHz automobile radar, digital radio links, and 94-GHz imaging radar for astronomy, defense, and Homeland Security.

Previously, the only solution for measuring very broad frequency ranges was to remeasure a device on a separate low-frequency system, which has resulted in large concatenation errors. The instrument improves dynamic range up to 30 dB over previous systems and produces a sweep speed of 120 ms for 201 points, up to four times faster than leading competitive instruments.

The unit can collect 100,000 points in one channel, and calibration and measurement stability is typically 0.1 dB over 24 hours. Two configurations are available: the ME7828A, which provides basic measurement capabilities for active device testing, and the ME7828A-012, for active device testing plus time-domain analysis and device characterization. (ME7828A, $393,470; ME7828-012, $431,550 — available 12 weeks ARO.)
