Vector network analyzers up bandwidth to 50 GHz

Offering bandwidths up to 50 GHz nearly double the 26.5-GHz-limit of previous generation analyzers PNA-X Nonlinear Vector Network Analyzers can now tackle the most challenging radar, satellite, and electronic-warfare applications. A 43.5-GHz version of the configurable 2- or 4-port network analyzers satisfies U.S. export requirements while a 13.5-GHz unit targets lower-frequency devices used in wireless communications. Units can measure X-parameters, a breakthrough for simulating real (linear, nonlinear) device behavior.

The 50-GHz N5345A and 43.5-GHz N5244A units provide single-connection, multiple measurement capability to reduce equipment requirements by at least 50% over previous approaches, and can replace multiple racks of instruments and numerous connections to the device under test while increasing throughput by 400 percent. Two built-in signal sources offer 16-dBm output power, −60-dBc harmonics, and a 40-dB power sweep range. Offering a single-contact wafer test solution, units can also be used to build a 0.5-THz banded mm-wave system.

Aimed at wireless-communication-device testing, the 13.5-GHz N521A model reduces the number of test stations by as much as 75% percent and test costs by 30%. It integrates the capabilities of multiple low-noise-amplifier test stations, such as small signal gain/match, distortions, and noise figure into a single unit. (From $76,400 to $140,100 available now.)
