Versatile controller handles 3-kW motors

The ION 3000 Digital Drive motion controller comes in dc brush, brushless dc and step/microstepping motor versions and handles up to 15 A continuous and 30 A peak. Selectable profiling modes include S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring, pulse and direction, and electronic gearing. The unit features CAN bus and serial communications.

It has selectable 20- or 40-kHz PWM frequency, a 102-µs servo loop rate, and supports an auxiliary encoder input for gearing and dual-loop applications.
