Vertical-mount VRs target space-critical apps
The 12–A BMR462-SIP (BMR4622002) and 20–A BMR463-SIP (BMR4632002) vertical-mounting digital POL voltage regulators target space-critical applications. They complement the recently announced 40–A BMR464-SIP) voltage regulators. The single in-line packaging boards suit memory chips, voltage regulators and other control boards. The 12 and 20–A boards have footprints of 1.58 cm2 and 1.99 cm2 , and power densities of 38 W/cm2 and 33 W/cm2 , respectively. They suit applications for network routers, data storage and AdvancedTCA boards.
Both voltage regulators offer 66-W power, 4.5 to 14–V input, and typical power efficiency of 97.1% at 5–V input, 3.3–V output and half load. The boards feature built-in energy-optimization algorithms to reduce energy consumption and power dissipation. They can be configured and monitored via the standard PMBus communication protocol and the graphical user interface. A synchronization feature allows several regulators to be locked to a common switching frequency to eliminate beat frequencies. They feature circuit protection including over-temperature protection, output short-circuit protection, output over voltage protection, and input under voltage lockout. (Ea/large qty: BMR462-SIP, $8.95; BMR463-SIP, $11.00 — available now.)
