Very rugged xceivers handle RS-485 & PROFIBUS

The LTC2876 and LTC2877 rugged high voltage tolerant RS-485/PROFIBUS-DP transceivers can tolerate ±60 V on their bus pins, eliminating common damage due to transmission line faults. The devices have extremely high ±52 kV HBM ESD protection without latch-up or damage on transceiver pins, with all other pins protected to ±15 kV HBM.

They offer an extended ±25V input common-mode range and full failsafe operation. The LTC2877 includes a 1.65 to 5.5 V logic interface supply input. The ICs are offered in commercial, industrial, and automotive temperature ranges in 3 x 3 mm 8- or 10-pin DFN or MSOP packages.
