VF display connects directly to PLCs
The 80-character PMD 180 vacuum-fluorescent display has dedicated
hardware and software for direct connection to brand-name programmable
logic controllers (PLCs). The PLC interface drivers are downloaded from
the manufacturer's programming software to ease the configuration of the
controller. Two lines of 40 characters in a 5 x 7 dot-matrix format
display messages that can scroll, chain, blink, print, log, and center.
The display can have up to 128 Kbytes of message memory in either RAM or
EEPROM. Three front-panel buttons–mode, enter, and restart–set the
computer interface parameters, set the PLC port, and provide test and
diagnostic functions. An unlimited number of slave displays can be
networked from one PMD 180. Interfacing is via an RS-232, RS-422, or
RS-485 port. The display measures 11.5 (W) x 3.76 (H) x 5.17 (D) in. and
weighs 3 lb, 8 oz. ($999–2 to 4 weeks ARO.) Uticor Technology, Inc.
