In the past, engineers, manufacturers and technicians, designing or maintaining RF systems and radios, relied on multiple pieces of test-and-measurement equipment to achieve accurate test and verification for radio system testing. Viavi is changing all that with an introduction of its CX700 ComXpert Radio Test System.
The company claims it is revolutionizing testing for radio manufacturers and depot-based and field-deployed military personnel with an all-in-one high-performance synthetic instrumentation for production, depot-level and field test of current and future radios and waveforms.
The CX700 delivers a lab-grade comprehensive test system that includes 100 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth, phase noise performance from 9 kHz to 6 GHz and a built-in power supply for devices under test. It also claims to have the fastest industry-standard data transport mechanisms.
The new solution provides a 2‑channel 125-MHz oscilloscope, a 6 ½ digit digital multimeter (DMM), real‑time record and playback and frequency hop burst power meter capabilities for testing analog and digital hopping frequency radios as well as software-defined radios. Other features include power meter, spectrum analyzer, audio generator, distortion meter, SINAD meter, audio analyzer, frequency counter and frequency reference.
The CX700 also includes a GNSS-enabled “no-cal” chassis time base, user-replaceable modules and Python-based on-unit auto-test framework and remote command interface over Ethernet control.
An integrated ruggedized keyboard, touchscreen, and trackpad enable comprehensive system testing for remote environment deployment, said Viavi. It leverages a highly intuitive GUI initially featured in its CX300 ComXpert.
The CX700 meets MIL-PRF-28800 Class 3 environmental requirements. It also interfaces with Viavi StrataSync and Smart Access Anywhere to deliver a highly integrated user experience.
