Viavi brings real-time analytics to O-RAN testing

Viavi expands its NITRO Wireless platform with real-time analytics for O-RAN interoperability testing, E2E testing and troubleshooting.

Viavi Solutions Inc. has expanded its NITRO Wireless platform with the addition of  real-time analytics for Open RAN (O-RAN) testing. The new XhaulAdvisor software solution delivers scalability and real-time data for fronthaul verification, analysis, emulation and channel utilization. Claiming the first solution to feature real-time analytics, it enables O-RAN vendors, operators, and OTIC labs to accelerate interoperability testing, end-to-end (E2E) testing and troubleshooting.

The ability for components to work seamlessly with a variety of vendors and ensure compliance with specifications, end-to-end interoperability and performance throughout the network is critical. Until now, real-time test tools addressing these interoperability issues were not available. Now, the XhaulAdvisor runs on commercial off-the-shelf hardware and provides a realistic testing and validation environment with real-time analytics testing on equipment from different manufacturers, significantly reducing test time.

It can be integrated with other Viavi tools including the TM500 network tester and TeraVM application emulation and security validation solution to speedup troubleshooting and root cause analysis, rapidly flagging and isolating issues caused by RAN, transport or synchronization functions. With the solution, vendors and operators can accurately correlate test anomalies to network events, troubleshoot fronthaul and transport timing, packet flows and channel utilization, and analyze M-plane, S-plane and C/U-plane sessions.

The company said that a variety of operation modes are available, including setup in passive or active mode and analysis in live or post-capture environments, and synchronization can be achieved from open fronthaul or an external timing source.
